Sensory Fiction will enhance your reading experience with physical feedback

Posted: 11 Mar 2014 12:23 AM PDT

Gamers are familiar with force feedback that enhances their gaming experience, but if you are more into books and reading, you might be interested in this new kind of book.

Sensory Fiction is a project by MIT team, and this project should enhance your reading experience. In order to get physical feedback while reading you'll need to wear set of straps which will provide you with certain feedback. For example, if character in the book is feeling warm you'll feel warm as well, or if character is feeling excited vibrating mechanisms will increase your heart rate. There are even LEDs that will recreate lighting from the book as well as compression system with airbags that will tighten or loosen as the story progresses. So far, only one title is available, and it's "The Girl Who Was Plugged In" by James Tiptree Jr.

Sensory Fiction sounds great, but we don't know whether such book will be available for sale anytime soon.
