Latest Lenovo Android slate: IdeaTab S2109 announced, but comes with an outdated iPad display

Posted: 09 Apr 2012 03:51 AM PDT

Check out the latest offering by Lenovo announced today, yes, its yet another Android tablet. What’s great about the new IdeaTab S2109 is that its slim (8.9mm) and comes in a nice gunmetal finish, in addition to having Android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on board.

While detailed spec are not available yet, we do know that the new tablet will feature a 9.7-inch touchscreen display with a decent but rather disappointing resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels – the non-retinal display which the iPad 2 had. Additionally, it also boasts iPad-missing-features such as micro HDMI and a microSD card slot. The back of the slate is peppered with a full four speakers for SRS Trumedia sound and what Lenovo promises is better bass than the tinny thumps we're used to from most tablets. Oh and there’s a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera for video chat.

No word on official pricing yet, but like most Android tablets we anticipate that it should undercut the new iPad’s especially given its specs.

Galileo robotic arm docks and recharges your iOS device

Posted: 09 Apr 2012 03:28 AM PDT

We have seen all sorts of iPhone charger docks, but today we have a different charger for your iPhone that can be remotely controlled remotely by another iOS device.

Galileo is designed to work as a robotic arm that can hold your iPhone or your iPod Touch, but the great thing about it is that you can tilt or pan your iOS device remotely while it is docked. In order to use 360-degree rotation, you'll need to have another iOS device that you will pair with Galileo, and by swiping the screen you'll rotate the docked device. You can use Galileo during the video calls, or even for home surveillance, and it seems that developer will release the SDK in the future, which leaves space for additional functionality. In addition, the Galileo will recharge your iPhone or iPod Touch while it's docked.

So far, Galileo is just a Kickstarter project, but we hope to see it available on the market someday in the future.
