Valkyrie: The latest robot from NASA revealed

Posted: 06 Jan 2014 10:01 PM PST

Robots can do all sorts of things, and as you know there are already robots in space, but according to NASA, space might see another robotic astronaut that could help us colonize Mars.

Valkyrie is a 6-foot tall robot, and this robot was specially designed to compete in the DARPA Robotics Challenge. This robot is also dubbed "superhero robot" because it comes with a glowing chest ring that resembles Iron Man suit. Valkyrie comes with 44 axes of movement and interchangeable arms and you can remove its arms in a matter of minutes simply by disconnecting one bolt and one connector. One interesting fact about Valkyrie is that it's a "female" robot and that it weighs 275 pounds.

NASA JSC Dextrous Robotics Lab did an amazing job with Valkyrie robot, and if everything goes well, this robot might help humanity in their quest to colonize Mars, but so far, future of this robot remains uncertain.
