Archos GamePad: Android gaming console Posted: 25 Dec 2012 01:08 AM PST There are all sorts of portable gaming consoles available on the market, and speaking of which, today we have a gaming device that is powered by Android. Archos GamePad is a gaming console that runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, so it has access to Google Play and Google Mobile Services. This gaming console comes with 14 physical buttons, dual analog thumb-sticks, and a special Archos game mapping tool. Hardware specifications include 5-inch capacitive screen with 1024 x 600 resolution, 1.6GHz dual-core CPU, quad-core Mali 400 MP GPU, 8GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot. Archos GamePad sounds like an interesting gaming device, but the question remains how it will stand against other portable game consoles such as Nintendo 3DS and Sony PlayStation Vita. As for the price and availability, Archos GamePad is available for €149.99 in Europe, while folks from US and Canada will have to wait until first quarter of 2013.
