RIM offers Blackberry users free premium games and apps as an apology Posted: 24 Oct 2011 02:41 AM PDT Research in Motion “RIM” is offering Blackberry users free premium applications from the Blackberry App World after a couple days of service interruptions. Many Blackberry users were unable to receive or send emails or contact people using Blackberry Messenger for a couple days. RIM held press conferences addressing the matter of downtime and is now offering some compensation by allowing free download of premium applications and games. Games like Sims 3, Texas Hold Em Poker 2, Bejeweled, Bubble Bash 2 are some premium games that are being offered for free. Many applications are also being offered for free. RIM says over $100 worth of games / apps are being offered as a thank you for being a Blackberry user. This offer will last until the end of 2011. RIM is also offering 1 month of free technical support for enterprise users. Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis stated: "We are grateful to our loyal BlackBerry customers for their patience," added Lazaridis. "We have apologized to our customers and we will work tirelessly to restore their confidence. We are taking immediate and aggressive steps to help prevent something like this from happening again." Humanoid robots from China can play a game of table tennis against human opponents Posted: 24 Oct 2011 01:55 AM PDT Robots can do all sorts of things, and some of them, like PR2, can bring you sandwiches, while others, like the ones that we're showing you today, can play a game of table tennis on their own. It's great to see that two robots can play a game of table tennis together, and in case you want to play against a robot partner, you'll be pleased to know that both of these robots can work with human opponents as well. Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone announced Posted: 24 Oct 2011 01:49 AM PDT The Samsung Nexus has been recently announced and will be the first smart phone running the Android 4.0 Ice Cream sandwich OS! The phone features a 4.65 inch super AMOLED touchscreen, with a 5 megapixel camera. The Nexus is being powered by a 1.2GHz dual processor with 1GB of RAM. The internal memory on this phone is quite large at either 16-32GB of storage. The phone has many unique interesting features like an accelerometer, compass, gyro, light, proximity sensor, it also adds a barometer to the mix. On the latest Android 4.0 OS, the phone itself does not have the four physical buttons on the device, they removed the Home, Back and menu buttons. The previous button’s on the front of the device will now be apart of the user interface which is a touchscreen. The device itself is light, small and compact and very sleek looking!
